When bringing home the bacon means working for the Chinese, can Joe Main Street live it down? Some Americans chafe at the idea of Chinese companies in the US.
Despite the growth, economics, & superb performances during the Olympics, China is a nation in love with soccer, & full of angst over its inability to compete.
With democracy stalled in America, the "Chinese Model" has looked pretty resilient recently. Isn't it time we withheld judgment and gave it a fair shake?
Bin is a child of two worlds. Born in China, but raised in the U.S., he's disheartened by America's increasingly strident anti-China rhetoric, in both politics and the media. Yet xenophobia cannot stop a growing grassroots movement--more and more Americans are now going to China to understand the Dragon's world view. Bin's pretty sure China's gotten less than a square deal from the West in the past, and probably deserves one now. That's all he asks for.
